Muscle Growth Isn’t Easy! 💪🏻 Muscle growth takes effort & consistency over time! Before worrying about supplements, when you’re going to plateau, executing meal timing, or any other modality. Focus on the fundamentals & ask yourself… Are you focusing on a variation of progressive overload in your training regimen? And are you training in a muscle building “zone”? Are you consistently in a caloric surplus? *VERY IMPORTANT* Are you following a training program or just sporadically training? How is your recovery? I.E. Sleep, rest days, deloads, stress management, nutrition, variation in intensity throughout the week. Are you getting your protein in daily? Are you eating an adequate amount of carbohydrates to improve performance? Are you training near failure? (0-4 RIR) All of these factors come together to formulate muscle growth. Once you’ve mastered being consistent in these can you worry about other factors, such as the examples listed above. Remember, muscle growth is HARD! Chorizo risotto❤️ Hands down the BEST risotto I’ve made so far! This was absolutely delicious🤤 why I’ve never made this before I don’t know but this was amazing👌🏻 literally just peppers and onions fried off till slightly softened, fried off some diced up chorizo till slightly crispy then added into the peppers and onions, added in the dry arborio rice and mix till combined stir for a few minutes then added in 500ml of chicken stock and kept stirring over the space of 30 minutes, once rice was cooked to my preference I added in 125g of seriously spreadable lighter, kept mixing until it was all melted then served! I have to keep repeating this because every week I see a few people say they have been in a calorie deficit for a long period of time with no weight loss…. And it’s just not true. It’s true they are probably trying. It’s true that they feel like they are constantly dieting. It’s true that that may be counting their calories. It’s true that they used some calculator that says they should be in a calorie deficit. What’s not true is that they are in a calorie deficit. If they were, they would be losing weight over a period of time (water fluctuations do occur). Weight loss (what we really want is fat loss) occurs when you’re eating fewer calories than you burn. If you’re not losing weight/fat over the period of let’s say 2-4 weeks, it’s probably safe to say you’re not in a calorie deficit. Read the first paragraph in this post again. There are a ton of variables to go through of why you can’t achieve this calorie deficit (hunger, inaccuracies in measuring, etc) but either way you’re not in a calorie deficit. This doesn’t mean you’re a bad person or an idiot or to blame etc. It’s just physiology. So if this is you, it may be time to diagnose the issue at hand of why you aren’t able to do it. Or maybe it’s time to stop dieting. I can’t answer that without a history and knowing a lot more. ❤️oh and it’s not the damn carbs or insulin. . . . What consumes your mind, controls your life. There is a lot going on. Everyone is divided. Fear is being perpetuated. Judgement is all around us. There is a lot of “us” against “them”. If you are like me, there must’ve been a lot of instances where you sat and let your thoughts consume you. Things can get dark and heavy very quickly. This is a reminder that social media and the television media do not present the whole picture. Just like photos on Instagram can be misleading, so can headlines, stats, and information. Take a step back. Turn off the TV. Turn off your “daily cases” notifications. Put your phone down. Breathe. Find something to do that makes you feel grounded and in the present moment. Regulate your nervous system. Practice mindfulness: be aware of what is around you and how it is affecting you.
