Bulking has/is taking a toll on my mental health. My weight has always been a determining factor in my self worth, which is why I THRIVE in a calorie deficit. And also why I spent 11 months there. So to see the scale creep up is causing me to question me why, which isn't very Cash Money of me. But really, why am I doing any of this? I want more. To do more. To lift more. To grow more. Tough Enough: Comp recap. 2nd strongman novice comp yesterday and good times had. Went exactly as I expected i.e. 1st two events pretty good then straight off a cliff once the floor/lower back stuff started. 🤣 Medley: Comfortable win even with this being the first time I'd tried that box carry (1st implement). Viking Press: We were allowed to do Push Jerks (double dipping) which I'd assumed was illegal as per usual strongman rules so didn't practice it. Kinda mixed them in with the occasional push press and ended up 2nd by one rep. 110kg Sandbag Carry: Closest I got to practising this was a 90kg bag off a platform which didn't go well (about 5 steps). Surprised this got off the ground but still managed 3 laps. Rough though. 80kg Stone to Shoulder: Had REAL issues with balancing it once it was on my shoulder as per the vid. Actually smashed my head twice with it (watch the 2nd rep) and have a decent lump today. Back was fine though. Deadlift: Almost didn't bother but glad I did. 170/185/200 (vid) which are all heavier than I've attempted in about 8 months. Took my time and pretty happy with all 3. The 200kg was the highlight of my day which is just bizarrely fucked. 🤣 Overall - the week preceding was rough with real life shit so wasn't in great form for the day but it happens. Definitely lots of lessons to take away and things to work on. Thanks to @thebarbrisbane for putting on the day and all the supporters - especially the ones from @thestrengthjunction that dropped in. OK, time to get intimate with that Deads suit and the banana lube. The eccentric work will leave you extremely sore the next day, so be sure to give yourself sufficient rest before hitting it again.
