I've spent so much time hating on my body, usually because of my weight and insecurities about my bingo wings, baby belly, chunky thighs, double chin, scars and weight etc. But actually THIS body has grown, protected, provided life and nourishment for 4 beautiful, gorgeous, stunning and strong humans. On top of that its given birth naturally each time and its provided milk for my babies. Plus not to mention all that it does day to day anyway. My body is damned amazing - just like my children! 👊❤ P.s boob in pic - which didn't show any nipple anyway - only covered up so as not to offend people who didn't realise that breasts are naturally meant for ....wait for it....breastfeeding babies! 😱😉🤱 #breastfeeding #breastfeedingmom #breastfeedingmama #breastfed #breastfedbabies #breastfeedingsupport #breastfedbaby #breastfeedingjourney #bodypositivity #bodypositive #love #amazingchildren #amazingbody #mybodyjourney #mybody #beautiful I know i'm not perfect, i'm me and thats pretty cool in itself 😘

World breastfeeding week 🤍 Cannot believe we’ve made it nearly 12 months, so so proud of our BF journey although at times it has felt like one of the most tiring, relentless things I’ve ever done especially with curveballs like allergies and mastitis thrown in the mix 🤍 huge thank you to @milly_wray__ and @emjslep for all of your support and helping me with my daft questions especially at the start 🤍 and thanks to @dansleps for capturing this precious little snap whilst we were a mile high in the sky ✈️📸 #worldbreastfeedingweek #nearlygotmygoldenboobs #breastfeeding #breastfeedingmama #normalisebreastfeeding #breastfeedingjourney

When I did this trip with Anthony at 6 months old, I stressed. I worried what everyone would think about my kid crying on the plane. I tried to meticulously plan every aspect of my packing and my trip. I worried about breastfeeding in public and having every single baby accessory with me at all times. He still cried. I still forgot stuff and people saw my nipples. This time around, there are two unpredictable children on a 10-hour flight. They cried a bit. One was on my nipple the entire time, and the other was dosed with some melatonin (this page isn’t for judging - so stop before you start). Survival mode. I packed what I remembered and I flashed whoever. Kids will be kids. You can’t plan every moment, every action, or every meltdown. It’s a new environment - one that some adults can’t even handle. But my toddler wore his mask without complaints the entire time in the airport, and only took it off while he slept on the flight. I’m proud of them. But, I’m more proud of me. I’m learning that motherhood isn’t meant to be perfected. You roll with the punches and the meltdowns, and you survive. The traveling was hard. But it was worth the memories we made there! Still one of the best trips we’ve made as a family! #nationalbreastfeedingweek #breastfeedingweek #breastfeedingmom #breastfeeding

The focus of World Breastfeeding Week this year is to emphasize breastfeeding education and support surrounding parents in the workplace, the community, and in healthcare as a whole. Unfortunately many parents come to me having received incorrect information, and their feeding goals are hanging on by a thread because the system has failed them. I encourage you, if you are a care provider, just as you would refer to a cardiologist or a pulmonologist or anything you don’t specialize in, to refer to a skilled IBCLC or lactation professional when your patient is having difficulty breastfeeding. If you’re a community member, please tell the mother you see breastfeeding her baby on a park bench she’s doing a good job. To employers, don’t make parents bring out the pumping break laws to argue that they deserve breaks to make food for their baby. Just give them the breaks. And to all the parents who so badly wished to meet their feeding goals, you are not alone. You are not a failure - you have been failed. #wbw2022 #worldbreastfeedingweek #babies #breastfeeding

BREASTFEEDING POSITIONS 🤱🏼 As you start your breastfeeding journey, you may start to notice a niggle in your upper back, neck and shoulders. This is most likely due to a breastfeeding posture with a hunched back and rounded shoulders. Here are some simple options to make it easier on your body: 1. With a pillow 2. On your back 3. On your side Don't forget to switch it up and feed on both sides ✨️ This helps stimulate the production of breast milk while you’re establishing a healthy supply of milk. Problems such as breast engorgement, plugged milk ducts and mastitis are also kept at bay. Your baby is also less likely to get a side preference. Your breastfeeding journey may not always be straight forward or look like you thought it would. And that’s ok, because that’s part of your journey and your story. You and your baby. 👶 . It’s a 2-way learning process for both of you and every mother’s journey looks different to the next. Different challenges, different stories, different strengths. 💜 . But one thing is constant and true for all... . And that is..that every mother who wants to breastfeed should be supported to do so for as long as they choose. And they should be able to find the right support when they need it. 💪🏽 . The right support, from the right places at the right time can transform a mothers breastfeeding journey. Some studies report that a large number of women who want to breastfeed have to stop before they are ready, for various reasons. This leaves some women feeling a range of negative emotions, including grief, anger, and disappointment. To avoid this ask for help. 🤱 🤱 . That could be from professionals – lactation consultants, breastfeeding peer support workers, or breastfeeding groups who can give you expert, actionable advice. Through to family and friends who can build you up, encourage you, provide emotional support or just a cup of tea and a friendly face when you most need it. 😍 ☕️ . When I was pregnant, I decided I’d really like to try to breastfeed but if I wasn’t able to or it was just too much for me, I wouldn’t and would give myself grace.⁣ ⁣ Because Olivia was underweight for a while, I pumped and bottle fed. I was thankful I was able to pump because I know that doesn’t always work out and I was stressed with the formula shortage. I wanted to ensure she was getting enough food and measuring was the best way to do so. It also was just too much mentally/physically for me when we couldn’t get the latch.⁣ ⁣ Once she was up to weight, we were able to successfully breastfeed with the nipple shield but it was so messy…she’d knock it off at times and milk would go everywhere. It was a wet tshirt contest but with milk. Good thing Dave’s favorite beverage is milk, because both his girls smelled like it 24/7. ⁣ ⁣ Although we were able to breastfeed, the shield was just another step that made it exhausting for me (and I’m sure her too). It made me not want to leave the house. It would be a hassle to deal with while out. I was feeling like I was the only one but so many mommas reached out and said their experience was the same. And if I wanted to breastfeed, to not let it get me down. But if I didn’t want to-not to feel guilty. I also knew a lot of moms who fed breastmilk via bottles and I was thinking I may do that if I via the source wasn’t working for us. ⁣ ⁣ I’ grateful that we have now gotten into a good swing of things and it’s been such a nice bonding experience for me and Olivia. ⁣ ⁣ To all the mommas out there-you are doing an amazing job-no matter how you decide to feed your child. Every way has challenges. We are currently struggling with bottle feeding. We want to start to get her used to it for daycare and also so others can help out with feeding. But sometimes it’s just easier for me to breastfeed and I just enjoy it. It can be relaxing for me to sit there with my girl in peace and quiet. We’ll slowly and surely get there though! It’s pretty hilarious to see her face when we do attempt a bottle. I just picture her saying…”Uh…yah…no mom!”⁣ ⁣ #nationalbreastfeedingweek #maternityleave #motherhood #firsttimemom #breastfeeding

#stillenistliebe ❗️ • • #breastfeeding #breastfedbaby #breastfeedingmom #junibaby2022 #junibaby #mamaleben #stillenistnatürlich #stillendemama #mamaalltag #mädchenmama #babymama #mommylife #momanddaughter #bitburg #trier #eifel #liketimegermany #trotzms #tochterliebe #breastfeed

🤱🏾🤱🏻🤱🏼Today we mark the end of “World Breastfeeding Week 2022!” 🤱🏼🤱🏻🤱🏾 💝If you are (or have been) a breastfeeding mama, what was your FAVORITE thing about your breastfeeding journey? 💝 ✨Some fun breastfeeding facts✨ -Norway is the country that overall breastfeeds their babies the longest. -The average moms spends 20-30 hours a week breastfeeding or pumping, which is equivalent to a part-time job. -When a baby latches at the breast, saliva from the baby enters the pores on mom’s nipples, mom’s body “reads” what antibodies the baby needs, and creates the milk accordingly. 🤯🤩 -Breastfeeding burns between 500-600 calories a day! (That is like running 5-6 miles a day!) 💪🏽💪🏾💪🏿 -Breastfeeding is a LIVING substance and contains active, living cells, and antibodies. -You can use breastmilk as a remedy for: cradle cap, pink eye, cuts, rashes, ear infections, minor burns, warts, cracked nipples, and more! -The composition of breastmilk is always changing and adapts to your babies specific needs! (Example milk for a preemie baby is drastically different than the milk composition of a 6 month old, and the milk can change by the hour to adjust to what your baby needs)! -The flavor of breastmilk changes depending on what mom has eaten. -Nipples do not just have one opening or hole (like a bottle)! Each nipple has 9-18 openings/holes where milk is expressed. -Breastfeeding can decrease the risk of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, type 2 diabetes and postpartum depression in mom! It really is such a well designed system! ♥️Happy World Breastfeeding Week to all you Nursing and Pumping Mamas out there! ♥️ #worldbreastfeedingweek2022 #worldbreastfeedingweek #breastfeeding #breastfeedingweek #nursingmama #pumpingmama #pumpingmilk

It’s the last day World Breastfeeding Week. Due to the complications of Arna’s birth, I ended up not making much milk at all. I have to take a medication called domperidone to increase my milk supply. It made a huge difference for me, but I still don’t make enough milk for Arna’s needs so I make homemade formula with the highest quality ingredients to make up the difference. Due to his respiratory limitations early on + my limited milk supply, we didn’t ever get the handle on transferring enough milk to rely on just breastfeeding for each meal, so Arna gets most of his milk in a bottle. It has been important for me to continue to breastfeed, though as it offers so much more than just nutrition. I am grateful we get to have any kind of breastfeeding experience at all. Our journey has illuminated the many, many ways in which breastfeeding can work or not work. The demand on the mother if it works is huge, the pressure to make it work comes from many angles, the pain and grief if it doesn’t work can be crushing. And there can also be relief in all of these scenarios as well. It is a complex and dynamic practice that comes in many forms. I was totally unprepared and ignorant when it came time to embark on the breastfeeding journey. Partly because breastfeeding is so compartmentalized in our culture. Did you know that ancient humans as well as some present-day traditional peoples, it is common practice and a matter of survival and best outcomes to breastfeed more than just your own offspring? It’s a communal effort between all currently lactating moms and sometimes grandmothers? This takes the pressure off an individual who might not make as much milk. It also exposes the child to a wide variety of beneficial microbes, antibodies, and micro-nutrients. It makes for a stronger tribe, physically, socially, and emotionally. It is a communal effort to sustain each other and the children. Just another example of how the nuclear family is failing us. 📷 @marisapfenning #worldbreastfeedingweek #worldbreastfeedingweek2022 #breastfeeding #breastfeedingawareness #traditionalpractices #nuclearfamily #babyhealth #strongertogether #feedthetribe #humans #thriving

Today closes out World Breastfeeding Week. I've spent almost 8 years breastfeeding my children and about half that time experiencing lactational amenorrhea (aka postpartum infertility = no ovulation = no period). Prolactin used to be cited as suppressing the return to fertility, but it appears that it's more correlation than causation and what really impacts the return of fertility is the energy availability of the mother. When energy availability is higher, fertility returns sooner. Availability of energy can be impacted by: ✨Frequency and duration of breastfeeding ✨ Night feedings ✨ Mother's age ✨ How closely mother and baby follow the 7 standards of ecological breastfeeding A woman's body, fertility, and cycles hold wisdom. They respond accordingly to demands and stressors. Why? To ensure your health and the health of your children. Did you experience lactational amenorrhea and how long did it last?

Posted @withregram • @efcni #Breastfeeding is the best form of nutrition for #preterm babies with undeniable short- and long-term benefits. It improves the baby’s growth and neurodevelopment and reduces the risk of infection-related deaths. #SkinToSkin contact during breastfeeding, also called #KangarooCare, helps to strengthen the mother-infant bond and reduces the mother’s risk for postpartum depression. Yet, exclusively breastfeeding a preterm baby during hospital stay and after discharge can be quite challenging in the beginning. Preterm babies are often physically not able to be breastfed since they cannot coordinate sucking and swallowing or their digestive system is not mature enough yet. Hence, (supportive) parenteral or enteral feeding might be necessary in the beginning. Healthcare professionals decide together with parents about the optimal way of nutrition according to the individual needs of the baby. Within this process of shared decision making, it is crucial to provide mothers and families of a preterm baby with adequate information as well as emotional support. During #WorldBreastfeedingWeek, we care about raising awareness for the special situation mothers of preterm and hospitalised newborns find themselves in when it comes to breastfeeding, because #BreastfeedingIsAJourney and every mother should be encouraged to find the best way for her and her baby.💜 To find the #factsheet as well as further information about our campaign, just click on the #linkinbio👆 #WorldBreastfeedingWeek2022 #BreastfeedingIsAJourney #Breastfeeding #MOM #HumanMilk #KangarooCare #SkinToSkin

If this picture seems a bit clumsy and not glamorous at all, I guess it captures the spirit of my 1st week of #breastfeeding 🤱 quite well. 🙃 The whole story is in the post, but I still want to mention a few things. 👇 This post is not meant to critique the caregivers in any way. I want to emphasise that they were very kind and helping out to the best of their abilities. Neither is it a critique on the pregnancy course I followed. It’s impossible to include all these kinds of scenarios in a course. I’m sharing this story mainly to show 🔹For many people breastfeeding comes with some challenges. There’s nothing wrong with you if it feels difficult initially. ❤️‍🩹 🔹Even though the start-up can be hard, (for me) it was actually just a very short period (although it felt very long), and now breastfeeding feels easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy! 🍋 So consider giving it a chance. 🙂 🔹Knowledge helps. I learned so much in this first week, that, if I would have known it upfront, would have made this a much smoother ride. So I share this story to enlarge your knowledge, and also to encourage you to learn a lot upfront. 📚 🔹If you’re worried, if you have questions… Speak up! 🗣️ I got lucky the head midwife asked me what was going on, otherwise Yuna’s weight might have dropped even further and we might have needed to stay longer at the hospital. My breastfeeding journey could even have failed entirely, who knows… 🔹Support is SO important. I probably couldn’t have done it without all the help from the midwives. I keep saying this but: it takes a village. So let them help you out. ❤️ Leave a ❤️ if this was helpful or you enjoyed it! 😊 #worldbreastfeedingweek #internationalbreastfeedingweek #weekvandeborstvoeding #wbw2022 #breastfeedingmom #breastfeedingstory #breasfeedingjourney #borstvoedingsverhaal

Szukając pomocy trafiłam do Pani Arlety Kwiatkowskiej-Król, położnej i Certyfikowanej Doradczyni Laktacyjnej.

Today is the end of National breastfeeding week and ironically it’s also the end of mine and Ivy’s breastfeeding journey. Our journey has been up and down and tumultuous at times. Three weeks in the antibiotics, that so thankfully saved Ivy’s life in hospital, caused a nasty case of thrush which was a battle to get through, we’ve had boob strikes for flow preference with bottles, we’ve had clinginess because I smell like milk, I’ve had to do 99% of bedtimes and whilst my liver is eternally grateful, my alcohol consumption has been very low and my social life considerably diminished. Even on the occasions I’ve been out I’ve been forced to maintain supply. I pumped and dumped on my hen party, on my wedding day and countless other days along the way! That’s not to say there haven’t been moments of glee. I’ve given my baby the best start I possibly could in life. I’ve pumped her full of antibodies and goodness. I’ve got her from the 9th percentile to the 75th percentile (go mama 💪🏻) and breastfeeding has been a way to bond so beautifully together. There is so much pressure on women to breastfeed when they are having a baby and I’ve spoken to countless people who have felt like a failure when they’ve been unable to breastfeed. My experience of breastfeeding is so mixed. Yes, it can be great but it’s also hard work and it’s not for everyone. For the positives I’ve encountered I’ve experienced plenty of negatives. I would never judge anyone who chooses not to breastfeed and I certainly wouldn’t think any less of someone who tried and didn’t manage it. Overall a fed baby is a happy baby and regardless of how you get there that’s what is most important! Here are some photos that document our journey… don’t worry, it was alcohol free beer ☺️ #nationalbreastfeedingweek #breastfeeding #breastfeedingweek #breastisbestifyoucan

If you’re considering breastfeeding your little one, I suggest doing a little bit of research before hand. I know that’s easier said than done— I had all the expectations to read everything I could before Flynn was born but I barely managed to get through my work days. Immediately after Flynn was born, the nurse brought him to me and asked if I wanted to try breastfeeding. (So it wasn’t “immediately” after because I was hooked up to oxygen and vomiting 🫠) I said yes and then a sinking feeling came over me — I had no idea what to do. How do I hold him? How do I get him to latch on? Omg how do I stop this from hurting so much? The nurses were helpful but our lactation specialist was a bit overwhelming. It probably wasn’t her intention but she made me feel bad for giving Flynn formula those first few days. (I mentioned last week that he was jaundiced and needed more fluids than I was able to provide). To be honest, through out most of this experience I’ve been working off of instinct. Eventually I decided I needed a bit more guidance so I turned to books! There were a few available on Kindle Unlimited, like the one pictured here. Lean on your resources whether they are books or people. It’s ok to ask for help. #WorldBreastfeedingWeek #WABA #Breastfeeding #Bookstagram #BooksandBabies #NormalizeBreastfeeding #BreastfeedingBookstagrammer #BreastfeedingBookBabe #BuildingBackBetter #EducateandSupport #StepUpforBreastfeeding #WorldAllianceforBreastfeedingAction #BreastfeedandRead #Breastmilk #BreastfeedingEducation #BreastfeedingBooks #BreastfeedingResources

#karmieniepiersią #swiatowytydzienpromocjikarmieniapiersia #kp #momof4 #breastfeeding #breastfeedingweek #breastfeedingmom #brestfeedinginpublic Dziś konczy się Światowy Tydzień Promocji Karmienia Piersią. Za mną juz zakończone aż cztery drogi mleczne. Kazda inna. Kazda wyjątkowa. Kazda ważna. Z pierwszą córką była to totalna niewiadoma. Zastoje. Ból i łzy (duuuuzo łez). Używanie kapturkow i wielkie święto, kiedy udalo sie nakarmic pierwszy raz bez nich. Z drugą córką dosc szybko weszła butelka i karmienje w trybie mieszanym. A moze odwiedzila Was tez Doradczyni Laktacyjna? Podzielcie się swoimi historiami 😊
